Toddler’s Elmo Doll Makes Death Threats

Theres a couple creepy parts here. First the doll knows the kid’s name is James, and it says “kill James”, and second it used to work fine. It was only after the batteries were replaced that it started making creepy threats.

Sounds like Chucky rather than Elmo. However, doesn’t it seem like every year there is a story like this where some parent believes a toy is saying something bad. I suppose it is possible that their is some guy working at a toy plant somewhere who is having a little fun, but isn’t it more likely the toy is just defective or people hear what they want to hear?
