3,500 Chinese Given The Name ‘Olympics’

I remember reading a while back that Chinese were giving their kids corporate names like ford and whatnot. So I suppose in comparison Olympics is not such a bad name. Still, what the hell is wrong with them. Can’t they think of something meaningful?

Well…they’re really calling their kids “Aoyun” in Chinese…which doesn’t sound so silly as calling a kid “Olympics” in English would. Chinese is a tonal language, so “Aoyun” said in different ways won’t always mean “Olympics” as it does in English.
